Restoration Facades Palazzo Montecitorio

Rome, 1986

Restoration and enhancement of the facades of Palazzo Montecitorio. Works by Bernini and the Fountain overlooking Via dell'Impresa, Piazza Montecitorio and Via della Missione. The project concerns the removal of exterior fixtures, windows and shutters, and their replacement with armored windows and new shutters similar to the existing ones. The replacement of the current windows, armored glass mounted in the 1980s on the existing frames, is dictated by security needs; while that of the shutters responds to the need to restore the functionality of the existing ones, degraded due to the passage of time and inadequate maintenance. This intervention respects the criteria of reversibility and minimal intervention dear to the restoration, the aim was to bring to light according to philological criteria the original appearance of the artifact, before the interventions of the late 1960s.
